Advice: If you just don't know what's wrong, ask. Advice from one of our mechanics is always free.
Tune-ups: All bikes sold at the GBP come with six months of free tune-ups. Tune-ups are an adjustment, cleaning and lube of the drive system and a check of the breaks. If your bikes did not come from the GBP or you have had it for more than 6 months, a standard tune up is $15 and is usually completed that day.
Chain Replacements: One of the most frequent problems with a bike is a rusty chain. The GBP will replace the chain and adjust the drive system for $10 + the cost of the chain. These repairs are generally done within the hour.
Wheel Truing: Another common problem with bikes (particularly road and hybrid bikes) is the wheels going out of true. This causes a wobbling of the wheel and a loss of effectiveness of the breaking system. Depending on how out of true the wheel is, the cost for retruing is between $5 and $10.
General Mechanical Work: Sometimes a bike just needs a mechanic to work on it. The GBP's flat fee for mechanic time is $15 for the first 1/2 hour and $20/hr for each subsiquent hour. The time to complete the repairs varies.
